The London SPE Net Zero Gaia committee is excited to invite you to this coffee hour chat where we will discuss ‘Geo Energy and Machine Learning’.
We will talk about the exciting world of Machine Learning and Data Science for the Energy Transition and how that is transforming the UK’s educational and industrial sectors. As the world shifts towards cleaner energy sources, and learning about these changes becomes vital, we will discuss how smart technologies like Machine Learning and Data Science are making a big difference.
To guide and enlighten us, we have two speakers who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience from the worlds of academia and industry: Professor Martin Blunt and Dr Francesco Coletti.
Martin Blunt will provide insight into the UK’s education and research transformation in preparation for the energy transition. Francesco will then talk about the role of Machine Learning and Data Science in the energy industry and particularly in the downstream. As a Professor of Flow in Porous Media in the Department of Earth Science and Engineering at Imperial College London, Martin’s research plays a vital role in our energy transition through the better design and management of hydrocarbon production and carbon dioxide storage. And, as course director for the ‘Geo-Energy with Machine Learning and Data Science’ MSc at Imperial College London, Martin is ideally placed to educate us on today’s subject.
Dr Francesco Coletti brings an industrial perspective. He is co-founder and CEO of Hexxcell Ltd., a London-based technology company that provides predictive analytics and prescriptive maintenance solutions for industrial heat transfer systems to refineries and petrochemical plants worldwide to increase production, cut energy consumption and CO2 emissions, and optimally manage operations and maintenance.
