Looking for Maths and English Volunteer Tutors?
Action Tutoring is a charity that provides maths and English tutoring within schools at Year 6 and 11 class levels (SATs and GCSEs). They target schools with a high proportion of disadvantaged pupils with the overall objective of evening up the education system to some degree. They are looking for more tutors to go into schools either first thing in the morning (before work?) or in late afternoon. Most of the London schools are central with a high density in N, NW and SE postcodes. One of these could be easily accessible by tube or from a mainline station. Tutors must be educated to at least A level in the tutored subject. Action Tutoring provide training (short), workbooks, a Programme Coordinator that attends each session and offers lots of encouragement. Tutoring is rewarding and good fun. If you might be interested in volunteering with Action Tutoring, please take a look at their website:? https://actiontutoring.org.uk/?
Alternatively, contact Ian Hancock (who has been a volunteer tutor for 2 years): ?Ian.Hancock@opc.co.uk
Ian will be happy to describe his experiences of volunteering with Action Tutoring and will try to answer any questions.
