The purpose of the programme is to provide SPE sections with outstanding speakers for section meetings, and to recognize the professional contributions of the selected Distinguished Lecturers.
The programme promotes SPE’s mission to connect a global community of engineers, scientists, and related energy professionals to exchange knowledge, innovate, and advance their technical and professional competence regarding the exploration, development, and production of oil and gas and related energy resources to achieve a safe, secure, and sustainable energy future.
It is funded primarily by the SPE Foundation through member donations, as well as a contribution from Offshore Europe. SPE appreciates the companies that allow their professionals to serve as lecturers and the additional support from AIME.
