SPE YP KAPPA Engineering’s Plug and Abandonment virtual technical event

SPE YP London is pleased to announce another virtual Technical Event on Plug and Abandonment (P&A) in field decommissioning hosted by KAPPA Engineering.

The presentation will discuss Plug and Abandonment (P&A), which is a key stage in Field Decommissioning. When the wells are abandoned, a number of barriers are set along the well. These must ensure that there is no fluid movement through the wellbore or behind the casing. Multiple cased hole logs are run to assess reservoir access, tubing/casing integrity, annular seal, among others. This information will help the operators to determine the characteristics of the P&A operation, including plug setting depth, type of intervention, rig/rigless activity, etc. Between 2017 and 2026, 349 North Sea fields will be decommissioned, with an estimated cost of 60 bn. This includes P&A of 2,500 wells. This session will review the key concepts of P&A, in the context of Well Integrity. We will summarize the main cased hole logging techniques, their interpretation and impact on the P&A planning.
